IN SERVICE TO OTHERS

Why can’t this be love?

Blood red fingernails

drummed out the beat

to the music on the counter

while the body was busy

feeling the music

Just let the music carry you away to that other place, the zone where everything transcends and you are in the alternate reality where everything just flows, effortlessly.

Why can’t this be love?  good question… great song.

Dostoyevsky made for interesting reading.  It reminds me of the AHAH moment I experienced several years ago while having coffee at Tim Hortons and being in the midst of an observation where I just sat back, sipping on my coffee, observing everyone in the restaurant.

I could see the intricate plays people were making, unaware that they were doing so.  Going through the motions, embracing life and everything it had to offer in that moment in time and I saw the interaction with other people almost as if it was in slow motion and how everything interconnected and I realized in that moment that our purpose here is to be in service to each other and in a way, that represents loving each other as we love ourselves or would want to be loved.

Sort of the same conclusion that Dostoyevsky reached in a dream where life’s purpose was revealed to him.

It was almost as if I could see microfibers expanding outwardly from everyone and connecting to others.

It was an interesting experience being the observer observing everyone including my self and my interaction or lack of interaction with others – just in the process of observing and seeing a slightly bigger picture at the time.  It was a revelatory moment for me.

Perhaps if we resolve to set about each day to be in service to others and help where we can, we might bring about some small change in our communities and in the areas around ourselves.
