TAKE A RISK

KNOWN VS UNKNOWN

We keep venturing back into the known as opposed to venturing forth into the unknown to reveal mysteries and to challenge ourselves to step out of our comfort zones.

The known, no matter how good or bad it is, appeases our senses because this is a known quantity that we have dealt with before whereas the unknown, by its very nature, gives us a sense of wonder coupled with the fear of defeat and the paralyzing what ifs that keep us latched to the status quo.

No matter what promises the unknown offers, the tried, tested and true will always be the fallback precisely because it is a known quantity.  Even through grievances, triumphs and tragedies, people flock to the familiar instead of trying to make change because change challenges their sense of balance and equilibrium.

Once the wonder of an unknown wears off to become known, we fall back into our previous patterns of being unsatisfied with what we have and begin to want more again – greed rears its ugly head and we are forever caught in the spiral of can I have some more and are never truly satisfied but for brief moments in time.  Mere seconds as it were in relation to the longevity or brevity of a life.

We forget the miraculous events of our lives and focus only on the situations that were problematic and we refuse to see our growth from those difficulties.  The miracles become non-descript in our quest to remain victims of circumstances beyond our control and our struggles with gaining and maintaining control are nothing but illusions attempting to satisfy the mind’s natural impulse to dominate and come out ahead of the game.  Champions in the race against mankind.

Domination and submission – human qualities and foibles.  Yin and Yang.

Our minds enslave us to our desires.

Never satisfied, we always look to someone else to lift us out of our own difficulties instead of pulling ourselves up by the bootstraps and working to rise above whatever the current situation might be and venture into the unknown territory in a bid for freedom from the humdrum of certainty.

This time though, take a chance and try something new instead of falling back on what you already know how to deal with. Taking a risk will sometimes bring the greatest blessings in your life and it is worth the risk to step out of your comfort zone.
